Village Grocer Citta Mall
Earth Bound Grocer
Village grocer strongly focuses on healthy lifestyle and fresh goods, hence we wish to portray the idea of a farm with fresh produce.
The entrance facade pelmet is covered with a rich green ( Village Grocer’s corporate colors), which complements the earthy terracotta floor of the general flooring. Upon entering, the overall grey flooring and dark ceiling places emphasis on the brightly colored fruits lined up on crate-like counters in wood strips, much like the outlook of an orchard. Keeping the interior colors minimal is the objective as the highlight would be solely on the products. The exposed ducting is painted over in black, keeping the overall effect raw, yet with lights suspended below the surface to light up the groceries below.
The signage of every section is vital, hence a large pelmet outlines the top of each wall, finished in warm wood textures to keep it natural. The fonts are then enlarged in bold black and enhanced by the concealed lighting below.
To break the monotony of the design, the non-halal ( restricted ) section is defined by ‘bacon’ pink walls, and bright neon lights in the refrigerated pork section. At the entrance of this section, an existing structure protruded at the top of the entry way, and proved to be non -removable. We decided to use it by blending it into our design, also giving it a function as a quirky entryway signage, covered in bright red to highlight the section.
Village Grocer also provides its customers with a pantry for dine-ins, allowing options for sushi, salads and pastries.
