Royal Selangor Visitors Centre
We were inspired by the pewter-mining processes & decided to re-create these elements into the Royal Selangor Visitor Centre’s interior design as a tribute to the heritage & legacy of Royal Selangor’s excellent craftsmanship. This philosophy can be seen throughout the store’s interior that fuses tradition and modernity by utilising different materials and textures. The faceted textured black wall represented the raw ore material, whilst the elongated timber merchandise display reminisced the ‘palongs’ used during the pewter-mining days. The gray hue used on the floor reflects the pewter shavings, tying both the solid wall colors with the surrounding neutral colored loose fixture. Colour play & textures was a key element considered in the project to allow maximum impact on the products displayed, whilst keeping a calm ambience within the store. The loose fixtures are up lit to give the optimum reflection to the beauty of the refined craftsmanship of pewter, and shoppers are able get closer appreciation of the product with most showcased at eye level or within easy reach. Frame grids which resembles scaffoldings of the mining site are whimsically to house large format poster as well as customize trophy designs.
